The Well Information & Well Log Database is a comprehensive, multi-source digital repository built to support advanced subsurface studies in the Northern Cuu Long Basin. It consolidates well log datasets (LAS, DLIS, ASCII), formation tops, DST results, well trajectories, master logs, and final well reports, alongside laboratory analyses from core samples (RCA, SCAL, SWC, cuttings), petrography, mineralogical data (SEM, XRD, CEC), and particle-size and sorting characteristics. All datasets are standardized, source-referenced, and integrated into a PostgreSQL platform with a Power BI interface for intuitive search, visualization, and cross-domain analysis.
Data sources include the Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI), the Petroleum Archive Center (PAC), and multiple operators in the Cuu Long Basin. Covering exploration, appraisal, and production wells, the collection offers a unified dataset that combines broad coverage with the depth required for detailed analysis. This structured database resolves issues of fragmentation from differing file formats, naming conventions, and storage systems, providing a consistent and accessible foundation for interpretation, correlation, and modeling.
Beyond serving as a high-quality archive, the database is designed as an enabling platform for cutting-edge applications. It supports the construction of digital twins of reservoirs and basins, AI/ML-based automated well log interpretation, stratigraphic correlation, reservoir property prediction, and integration of geological, geophysical, and geomechanical datasets. With its structured schema and high data fidelity, it also facilitates multi-well, multi-field analysis for both regional studies and field-scale development planning.
As the first fully digitized, basin-wide well log and well information system for the Northern Cuu Long Basin, this resource delivers enduring value. Continuous maintenance and updates will ensure its long-term relevance, enabling petroleum geoscientists, petrophysicists, and engineers to accelerate exploration workflows, improve reservoir evaluation, and unlock new opportunities—whether in conventional plays or in detecting missed hydrocarbon pay zones overlooked in traditional interpretations.
